For many tourists, spectacular lightings around Hong Kong are a “must-see” during the Christmas and New Year season. Residents were invited to promote Hong Kong by participating in “2009 Hong Kong WinterFest – Top Ten Vantage Points of Festive Lightings”, a photo contest organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board. Top ten shots selected out of 1,000 entries were shared with tourists via internet and overseas media, and tourists were encouraged to visit these recommended vantage points. (please click here to view the top ten shots)
400 Primary 1-3 students from 20 local schools contributed their beautiful voices to promote Hong Kong tourism. After weeks of training, these 400 students, together with artiste Chet Lam and pop group “at17”, filled the Urban Council Centenary Garden in Tsim Sha Tsui with the wonderful music of Angelic Carols – a key programme of 2009 Hong Kong WinterFest organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board – spreading the message of love and joy.
Having completed three months of training, 30 “Hong Kong Pals” will join the HKTB in promoting Hong Kong to in-town visitors. They will introduce to visitors Hong Kong’s way of life and culture, as well as making travel recommendations based on their own favourite sites and activities. These “Hong Kong Pals” will offer services at Visitor Centres at Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry Concourse and The Peak, inviting visitors to explore our local culture and lifestyles in a fresh new way while they sightsee, dine and shop in October.
The 30 “Hong Kong Pals” selected by the HKTB are now undergoing a series of training that aims to enhance their understanding of the unique attractions and living culture of Hong Kong. Upon completion of the training, the “Hong Kong Pals” will station at HKTB Visitor Centres at Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry Concourse and The Peak starting from October 2009, where they will introduce to visitors the city’s unique living culture in an in-depth manner.
