38th Asia Pacific Dental Congress 2016

More than 3,500 delegates attended the 38th Asia Pacific Dental Congress (APDC) held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) from 17–19 June. Acting HKSAR Chief Executive John Tsang officiated the event, which featured highly respected speakers who discussed significant new developments and scientific advancements that will impact the future of dentistry.

This was the fourth time the APDC has rotated back to Hong Kong, which has wide experience in hosting dental events covering the region and beyond, including the last five editions of the home-grown Hong Kong International Dental Expo and Symposium (HKIDEAS), the 2012 FDI Annual World Dental Congress, and so on.

Hong Kong’s strategic location as the gateway to Greater China, along with its sophisticated infrastructure and support services, are cited as key reasons why the organisers chose the city to host these important events.

“Hong Kong is definitely our ideal location for organising conferences. With its geographical location, easy accessibility and advanced medical development, we were able to bring together many world-reputed experts from all over the world for knowledge interflow. Hong Kong Dental Association managed to bring the APDC to Hong Kong for four times with remarkable success, and the city’s resourceful expertise, well-established transport network, infrastructure, management system and good hospitality contributed a lot to these successes.”
