Hong Kong Open Championship 2012

The 2011 Hong Kong Open was won by Rory McIlroy, the 22-year-old from Northern Ireland and the World's Number Two golfer. He won the event in dramatic fashion, chipping in from a greenside bunker on the 18th hole to finish 12 under par. This is his first Hong Kong Open win after finishing 2nd in 2008 and 2009.

Meanwhile, Juvic Pagunsan from The Philippines carded a closing round of two-under-par 68 for 10th place to add US$55,000 to his season's haul of $788,298 and claimed the prestigious Order of Merit crown, becoming the first Filipino to reach the Asian Tour summit in the game's history.

First held in 1959, the Hong Kong Open is the city's oldest, and one of its most important, professional sporting events. The 'jewel in the crown' of Asian golf has a rich history of winners including nine different Major Champions who have amassed 25 Major titles between them.
