When Hong Kong’s favourite son, Bruce Lee, hit the big time in Hollywood in the stylised martial arts films of the 1960s and 1970s, he took his own version of kung fu to the world. That Kung Fu spirit lives on today in the city’s parks and open spaces. Kowloon Park in Tsim Sha Tsui is an open-air venue that plays hosts to the Sunday Kung Fu Corner. This weekly event features a variety of traditional kung fu demonstrations and cultural performances, including ceremonial drumming and lion and dragon dances.
Following the performances, members of the public are invited to try their skills, and the instructors are happy to lead visitors through a series of kung fu movements. Accredited masters are happy to lead private groups too. Help build team spirit through a series of basic moves, then sit back and watch the professionals.
