Hong Kong: Where the world meets in Super March(僅提供英文版)

Attracting some of the world's greatest rugby players and thousands of fans, the Hong Kong Sevens made its debut at the newly unveiled Kai Tak Sports Park this year.

As one of Asia’s most visited destinations, Hong Kong is more than just a tourism hotspot – it’s also a powerhouse for business events and mega events. With world-class infrastructure, cutting-edge venues and top-tier accommodation, the city offers everything needed to host impactful conferences, meetings and exhibitions. Add to that a vibrant dining scene, diverse entertainment and unique East-meets-West cultural appeal, Hong Kong stands out as an unrivalled MICE destination that is ideal for business events to grow and expand their global footprint.

A thriving events scene seamlessly converging business and leisure

Kicking off 2025 with fanfare, Hong Kong welcomed the Asian Financial Forum (AFF) in mid-January, bringing together 3,600 leaders from the government, finance and business communities. The forum’s 100 guests were treated to immersive experiences – from a classic Peak Tram ride to heritage visits in Old Town Central, plus front-row seats to illuminated views of Victoria Harbour on a scenic cruise aboard Aqua Luna.

Consensus2025

Dubbed as the “Super Bowl of Blockchain” and the “World Cup of Web3”, Consensus debuted its Hong Kong edition in February.

In February, Consensus, the most influential and longest-running event of the crypto world, picked Hong Kong as a destination to expand beyond North America, with a record-setting debut of nearly 10,000 attendees from over 100 countries and regions converging at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The scale of this inaugural Hong Kong event surpassed our expectations,” said Michael Lau, chairman of Consensus Hong Kong. "The fact that we ended up hosting over 350 side events is a strong testament to Hong Kong as a leading global fintech hub, where we have a vibrant ecosystem, entrepreneurial spirits, innovative cultures that nowhere else can replicate.”

Stellar lineup of business events in Super March

After a dynamic start to the year, March gets buzzier with a stellar lineup of prestigious conferences, industry fairs, international summits and world-class sporting and arts events.

In March alone, AsiaWorld-Expo on one hand hosted B2B trade shows HKTDC Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem and Pearl Show and the startup event Jumpstarter 2025, and on the other, ComplexCon, a groundbreaking global festival and exhibition that brings together music, style, sneakers, pop culture, art, food, and innovation.

At Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), anchor B2B events such as the HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show, FILMART and the APLF Leather Fair collide with Asia's premier art fair, Art Basel Hong Kong.

Art Basel 2025

Each March, Hong Kong buzzes with world-class events such as Art Basel, Hong Kong’s largest international art fair.

For more intimate, high-impact gatherings, the expansive event spaces at Hong Kong’s hotels step up to the plate. Economist Impact's fifth annual Technology for Change Asia took place at the city’s recently opened Hopewell Hotel, while Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong and Regala SkyCity Hotel provided a stage for the Milken Institute Global Investors' Symposium and the 2025 One Earth Summit, respectively.

Return of Tech for Change on a bigger scale

On 12 and 13 March, Economist Impact’s Technology for Change Asia conference returned to Hong Kong on a bigger scale. The A-list event, attended by over 700 movers and shakers from the tech and business spheres, featured more than 70 speakers, including Hong Kong Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po, Lan Kwai Fong Group Chairman Allan Zeman, Li Auto CTO Yan Xie and world-famous physicist Brian Cox.

Some of industry's most esteemed entrepreneurs and fintech leaders converged to share their insights on how technology can drive businesses forward at Technology for Change Asia 2025.

Asif Chaudhury, managing director for Asia at The Economist Group, highlighted Hong Kong’s appeal as a natural meeting point for industry leaders. "At this year's event, expert speakers at the forefront of innovation shared detailed insights on the region's emerging investment and business opportunities and explored the unique position of the Greater Bay Area in using technology for business impact.”

Meanwhile Brian Cox, author, television presenter and professor of particle physics at Manchester University, praised Hong Kong’s dynamic nature: “Lots of sports and cultural events are happening in Super March in Hong Kong. It is a good example why Hong Kong is one of my favourite cities. There’s always so much to do and see. Every time I come back to Hong Kong, there is change that reflects the city’s vibrant spirit.”

Post-conference, delegates of Economist Impact’s Technology for Change Asia enjoyed immersive activities such as the TramOramic sightseeing tour around the city.

Global flagship mega events packed Super March

Hong Kong’s unique blend of Eastern and Western influences was on full display during “Super March”, when the city hosted an extraordinary roster of sports, pop culture and arts events.

On the sporting front, the city hosted LIV Golf Hong Kong, the World Snooker Grand Prix and the iconic Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens – held for the first time at the brand-new Kai Tak Sports Park. Hong Kong’s art and pop culture scene flourished with events such as the Art Central, Art Basel, HKWALLS Street Art Festival, the 53rd Hong Kong Arts Festival and ComplexCon. The city’s foremost art spaces also showcased world-class exhibitions, including Cézanne and Renoir Looking at the World – Masterpieces from the Musée de l’Orangerie and the Musée d'Orsay and Picasso for Asia: A Conversation.

Kai Tak Sports Park, which just opened its doors in March 2025, is now the city’s largest integrated sports and entertainment complex.

Hong Kong checks all the boxes as an event destination

Organisers of business and mega events picked Hong Kong as the destination of choice, thanks to the city’s superb venues, strong network of talents and gravitational pull of visitors and East-meets-West appeal.

The heart of any successful MICE event begins with a well-suited venue. From state-of-the-art exhibition halls to luxury hotels with dedicated event spaces and open spaces like Central Harbourfront, the city has something for every type of event. Meanwhile, the city’s largest integrated sports and entertainment complex Kai Tak Sports Park, built on the former airport tarmac, features a 50,000-seat Main Stadium.

Apart from the hardware, successful events thrive on world-class speakers and thought leaders, and Hong Kong’s status as a global finance and technology hub offers access to a wealth of top-tier talents. In addition, Hong Kong’s strategic location, unique positioning as a gateway to the world with East-meets-West appeal that draws attendees, is an ideal city for organisers to expand their global footprint and the scale of their events.
