8th IWA-ASPIRE Conference and Exhibition 2019

The 8th IWA-ASPIRE Conference and Exhibition, held from 31 October to 2 November 2019 with the theme of “Smart Solutions for Water Resilience”, was hosted in Hong Kong for the first time.  With the full support of the HKSAR Government, the Conference welcomed more than 1,300 delegates from over 30 countries and regions, far exceeding expectation. The Conference was an excellent platform for water professionals, practitioners and academia from across the international community to convene and share best practices, acquire new knowledge and get inspired to find smart solutions for water-related subjects.

Hong Kong is Asia’s World City, and its world-class, superbly-equipped conference facilities offer unparalleled value in terms of quantity, quality and efficiency. Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has provided excellent support to the Conference, including a cultural Lion Dance performance, Dragon Beard Candy Making demonstration stalls, Caricature and Chinese Calligraphy on Fans at our Gala Dinner. They also chartered two trams for touring. It was all in all a memorable experience for the delegates.

Hong Kong has great drawing power for its location, infrastructure, professional business know-how and connectivity to the rest of the world. It’s ideally suited for a regional or international conference. One of Hong Kong’s newest edges is the enhanced connectivity with Mainland China via the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai Macao Bridge, making the city even more accessible to mainland delegations. This will generate even greater attendance for events to be hosted in Hong Kong.
