15th Asia-Pacific Congress of ELSA 2021

Surgeons around the world joined ELSA 2021, held at Hong Kong Science Park on 20–21 November in 2021.

As the biggest and most prominent congress of its kind in Asia, the congress attracted around 300 attendees onsite and 1,000 participants online. More than 80 international faculty delivered 34 scientific sessions and made the congress an ideal platform for knowledge exchange on cutting-edge technological advances in minimally invasive surgery.

More than a platform for demonstrating the excellence of minimally invasive and robotic surgery in Hong Kong to Asia and the world, the event was also an opportunity to reinforce Hong Kong’s global medical standing, a key factor in winning the ELSA 2021.

Professor Philip Chiu, CUHK Associate Dean (External Affairs), Faculty of Medicine and a Hong Kong Convention Ambassador, worked together with HKTB to win the hosting right of the event.

Hong Kong has solid fundamentals and a track record in hosting international medical conferences, thanks to its connectivity, service quality, efficiency, and the city’s leadership in various medical fields. Together with leaders in various specialties, I am honoured to take part in promoting Hong Kong as the international city for conferences.
