30th East Asian Insurance Congress

The 30th East Asian Insurance Congress (EAIC 2024), themed "Back to the Future – Empowering East Asian Insurers for 2044 and Beyond", marked a significant milestone in the insurance industry. This prestigious event attracted over 1,000 participants, including insurers, reinsurers, brokers, regulators, and young talents from more than 30 cities and countries. It is Hong Kong's third time hosting this prestigious gathering.

Hosted every two years, the congress has become the platform for global top-notch insurance leaders to explore the transformative opportunities and challenges that lie ahead for the insurance industry in fast-rising East Asia.

Throughout the four-day event, attendees engaged in high-caliber presentations and discussions on eight key topics ranging from regional economic to insurance ecosystem, from technology to sustainability in the insurance ecosystem, each topic is accompanied by a renowned movie title, which is effectively highlight the subject.

The return of this congress features insightful panel discussions and dialogues on insurance businesses including marine insurance, reinsurance, insurance ecosystem, and innovation. The feast makes this year’s conference an important platform for international insurance development exchanges.

The congress highlighted Hong Kong’s exceptional infrastructure as a leading financial hub. Michael Rellosa, President of EAIC 2024 and Trustee and Executive Director of the Philippine Insurers and Reinsurers Association, remarked, "Hong Kong is the go-to location for major international events, including the East Asian Insurance Congress. Its excellent infrastructure positions it as a leading financial and transportation hub, offering a unique blend of Eastern and Western influences."

Moreover, Selina Lau, Organiser of EAIC 2024 and Chief Executive of The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers, pointed out that Hong Kong is home to 12 of the world's top 20 insurers, creating a vibrant ecosystem for various industry professionals. "The city serves as a gateway to Chinese Mainland and a platform for mainland insurers seeking international opportunities," she noted.
