Museum Summit 2023

The third edition of Museum Summit was held on  24-25 March 2023 at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, with a record attendance of more than 2,000 participants and more than 12 million views online.

Organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) with Italy’s Gallerie degli Uffizi as this edition’s international partner, the summit converges global expertise and innovative ideas on the latest developments and transformations of museums across the world.

Summit delegates toured Hong Kong's newest grand museums, the Hong Kong Palace Museum and M+, as well as the renovated Hong Kong Museum of Art. They also visited Art Basel and a plethora of associated art activities to make their event programme all the more fulfilling.

Event delegates took a deep dive into ideas about cultural exchanges between places, the reinvention of old and new cultural facilities, the connection between museums and their communities, and the online and offline integration made possible by new technologies.

With “Between” as this edition’s key concept, the summit brought in 35 leaders from world-renowned museums of 16 countries to dive into topics under four themes – Between Worlds, Between Times, Between Peoples and Between Spaces.

The Museum Summit this year saw record attendance. It was particularly exciting that this year's event was hosted alongside the iconic Art Basel and exemplary events that you simply cannot find this anywhere in the world. Hong Kong is perfectly positioned for this kind of arts & cultural summit, with world-class new arts infrastructure, East-meets-West culture and top talent from wide-ranging expertise areas making for a real recipe for success.
