Routes World 2025

Routes World, the world’s major global aviation convention, selected Hong Kong for its 30th edition, marking the first time this prestigious event was staged in the city. This confirmed Hong Kong’s prowess as an advanced regional aviation centre and the premier setting for global route development planning.
The convention convened at AsiaWorld-Expo, welcoming around 2,000 delegates from over 115 countries and regions worldwide. These key decision-makers, representing airlines, airports, tourism authorities, and industry innovators, were instrumental in solidifying future partnerships. Notably, Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) exchanged two key memoranda of understanding with partners from PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia and Wuhan Tianhe International Airport, focusing on boosting connectivity and operational ties.
The three-day event delivered strategic perspectives on key topics, including future air network development, the future of aviation in the Greater Bay Area, airline cooperation, and strategies for smoothing seasonality effects. AAHK Chairman Fred Lam encouraged attendees to jointly “leverage the city’s infrastructure, ride on the connectivity in the region, and benefit from our innovative service.”
The successful hosting of this major global convention undeniably proves Hong Kong's dual status as both a world-class MICE destination and an advanced regional aviation hub, the multi award-winning HKIA has the track record to connect Hong Kong with around 200 destinations worldwide with flights by about 140 international airlines. The Chief Executive’s 2025 Policy Address commits to leveraging the new Three-Runway System to substantially increase long-haul and transit routes, cementing the city’s strategic standing as one of Asia’s busiest aviation hubs and the world’s busiest airport for international cargo.
As we look ahead, HKTB remains dedicated to supporting and attracting more international conferences that will further enhance Hong Kong’s dynamic industry landscape.
