Staged at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on December 15-18, the four-day event attracted over 6,000 local and international researchers, developers, creators and industry professionals from more than 60 countries and regions. Hundreds of sessions were curated under the theme “Generative Renaissance”, encompassing Technical Papers, Featured Sessions, the Art Gallery, XR, Emerging Technologies and the Computer Animation Festival, for attendees to explore how AI is transforming creativity, art and science, leading to new forms of expression and discovery.

Among the 600+ expert speakers in AI, computer graphics, VFX, virtual production and digital storytelling were leading names such as the Pixar Elio team, Eyeline’s Paul Debevec, Digital Domain founder Scott Ross, Raman Hui of Monster Hunt and Shrek fame, Chris Bremble, founder of Base Media, which participated in the visual effects production of Ne Zha 2, and Alex Woo , from Kuku Studios, directs his first animated feature, In Your Dreams.

The event was jointly brought to Hong Kong by The University of Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Polytechnic University – all appointed organisations under HKTB’s Hong Kong Convention Ambassador programme. Hong Kong is a technological hub that attracts researchers and engineers from both Chinese Mainland and countries all around the world. This makes Hong Kong a great place to host this event. Hong Kong has the best universities in Asia with a very deep talent pool and great talent about generative AI in all the universities. SIGGRAPH was hosted in Hong Kong twice. There has been a great progress in generative AI and neural networks since then. 2025 is the best time to host SIGGRAPH in Asia, in Hong Kong again.
Prof Taku Komura
Chair, SIGGRAPH Asia 2025
Hong Kong is a neutral place to do business. Hong Kong provides a trusted hub for contracts, negotiations and arbitration. These are very critical in order to get deals done. Hong Kong is a marketplace for products and services to regional businesses in post-production, animation and content creation. The market aspect of Hong Kong makes SIGGRAPH Hong Kong special. That's why I come here, and that's why it's valuable.
