Bringing together over 350 legal professionals and industry experts from 14 jurisdictions , the event, themed “Be Just! Be a Good Sport”, fostered valuable cross-jurisdictional exchanges.

The four-day event was innovatively designed with three major components, conference, gala night and a series of sports competitions amongst the legal professionals. Among the high-profile speakers and participants were lawmakers, policymakers and Olympic gold medalists, including the Hon Mrs. Regina Ip Lau Suk-yee, Convenor of the Non-official Members of the Executive Council and Member of Legislative Council; Dr. Cheung Kwok-kwan, Deputy Secretary for Justice; Ms. Rosanna Law Shuk-pui, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism; and local Olympic gold medallist, Ms. Vivian Kong; as well as national Olympic gold medallists.

The Sports Law Conference provided a platform for in-depth discussions on the evolving legal and business landscape of the sports industry, with a strong focus on sports dispute resolution. The 15th Recreation and Sports Night brought legal professionals and distinguished guests together in a gala dinner setting, featuring live performances and interactive engagements. Additionally, the 9th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Lawyers Sports Meet showcased the athleticism and team spirit of legal professionals through 12 competitive sports events.

“Sports and related industries rank among the fastest-growing sectors in Hong Kong, and that the city’s diverse array of legal and dispute resolution services can significantly bolster sports development, thereby laying a robust legal foundation for the growth of the sports industry. This landmark gathering underscored the growing significance of sports law as a specialised practice area, offering new opportunities for the legal profession. “said Mr Roden Tong, the president of The Law Society of Hong Kong.

Hong Kong, strategically located in the heart of Asia, offers excellent connections to the mainland and a rich history in international arbitration. This makes it an exceptional destination for lawyers globally, benefiting from its common law jurisdiction and diverse talent pool. The event's integrated format provides valuable insights into sports law within Hong Kong's unique legal landscape. I'm also eager to participate in the dinner showcasing Hong Kong's culinary excellence and to observe esteemed legal experts in a competitive sports setting.

It's my first visit to Hong Kong, and everything is as well-organized as I expected. The city's vibrant atmosphere and dynamic energy leave a lasting impression on business travelers. As a strategic hub close to Mainland China, it serves as a gateway to a larger market. The agreements between Hong Kong and the mainland make it easier for international businessmen to understand and business being taken off in the future, which is crucial for success. The city's efficiency, well-developed infrastructure, and the business-minded attitude of its residents align perfectly with our professional objectives. As business travelers, we value that the local community shares our vision for success.
